Our Philosophy

Hygiene, as a philosophy, teaches that healing is a biological process, the function of which is dependent upon the appropriate provision of the basic needs of life, that is, food, air, water, sunshine, rest, sleep, activity, mental and emotional influences, etc.

In the practical care of the sick, we use only conservative means. No drugs or surgery are employed. Only those materials and influences which have a normal relationship to the organism are provided. Our first objective in attempting to restore normal physiological function is to remove, as far as practicable, the known causes of disease: faulty diet, inadequate activity, poison habits, physical and psychological stress, biomechanical factors and other aspects of lifestyle which influence physical and psychological well-being.

We believe it is largely ignorance which prevents us from realising that nearly all disease evolves from a combination of physical and psychological factors, many of which are within our own voluntary control.

Do you know why you feel unwell? Do you know why drugs and patent medicines provide only partial or temporary relief? Do you know why chronic disease is increasing?

The answers to these questions are clear, comprehensive, and readily available. Our educational programme and individual counselling will explain why and how people get sick and how they can get well and stay well.

There is no blue print programme which will satisfy everyone's needs. Each person requires care appropriate to their own requirements. Care cannot be effective if applied according to some arbitrary standard without recourse to individual capacity.

The emphasis of the hygienic approach is health oriented rather than disease oriented, that is, the focus is on health care and the removal of the causes of disease, rather than the vigorous and active treatment of disease which often involves the use of substances and procedures in themselves inimical to health.
